Maverick Media World was founded by David Baker, a passionate media and marketing professional whose journey began in public radio. David first made his mark as “Maverick” on Houston’s KPFT, where he honed his skills as a broadcaster and public fundraiser–actively participating in KPFT’s on-air pledge drives, working alongside volunteers and hosts to raise critical funds for the station.
Later he moved behind the scenes at iHeartRadio, working as an engineer, collaborating closely with on-air personalities, fellow engineers and marketing professionals. These experiences ignited his ambition to help businesses grow through powerful media-driven marketing.
David pursued higher education at Stephen F. Austin State University (SFA) in Nacogdoches, earning a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Marketing. This AACSB‑accredited program equipped him with comprehensive expertise—from consumer behavior to marketing analytics and digital media strategies.
While completing his degree in Nacogdoches, David helped local businesses meet ambitious marketing goals by creating tailored campaigns, branding initiatives, and content strategies.
He worked with the city of Nacogdoches for event planning for a local marathon that David helped successfully market, increasing runner participation 10-fold. Inspired by the impact he made in college, David returned to the Houston area and launched Maverick Media World to bring that same results-oriented marketing to a broader audience.
